Ed Welburn - Cars, Cars and More Cars

To tell the story of an auto industry visionary, I staged an immersive, cinematic ride. Coordinated drones, GoPros, and in-car interviews to simulate the visceral thrill of the open highway — despite not being a car enthusiast myself. The result made design feel kinetic, not static.

Skills honed: Engineering nontraditional storytelling environments; translating unfamiliar subject matter into sensory experiences; orchestrating multi-camera choreography to create momentum.

“I designed this high-speed research car that set world's records and designing the pace car for Indianapolis 500 and working on Cutlass Supreme's and all of this, you know. And -I was told I was doing great work, but he said, you know, but the company will never make a black person an executive. So you need to make a big decision. You either are going to stay at the level that you're at, or you should take a look at working somewhere else.”- Ed Welburn
